Asia Fatality and Motorization Rates

The following chart is the motorization rate of select Asian countries from 2003-2005.  The Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysian data is out of date, most of the information was collected in 2003.  A reasonable guess would be that Vietnam's motorization rate has actually leapfrogged Thailand and Malaysia because Vietnam's current ratio of 2-3 wheelers per 1,000 people is now almost 300 and Vietnam's economy has grown faster than either country.  I was hesitant to put that information in the graph below because I couldn't find current Thai or Malay motorization rates for comparison.

The graph below lists fatality rates for the Asian countries from the ASEAN study that had a fatality rate per one million people over 100.

Vietnam has the second highest fatality rate, more than any other country other than Malaysia, and this was in 2003, BEFORE the massive increase in motorization that Vietnam experienced.

Below is the ADB/ASEAN chart that I worked off of.
